JOB SUMMARY

The Doctor/Nurse in Charge is responsible for overseeing medical outreach related activities and for supervising the local health team (including any category: CHO and CHA, nurses etc.). S/he is responsible to ensure that the team is integrated within the health structure, and to ensure that other health staff are informed about the outreach activities planning and implementation.

ORGANIZATION CHART

The successful candidate will be part of the Humanitarian Action - Ebola Unit and will refer to the Medical Coordinator of the HC.

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•Doctor/nurse is aware of the risks involved in working in the Ebola HC unit

•Doctor/nurse follows all regulations concerning infection control and protective measures

•Non-adherence to the safety regulations can result in immediate dismissal

•Ensures implementation of medical outreach activities in coordination with psychosocial team and other stakeholders

•Organizes and provides trainings for health staff at HC and PHUs about Ebola related topics and other health topics if needed.

•Supervises local staff in charge of trainings and outreach activities

•Responsible for reporting relevant problems and issues arising from the medical activates to the Health Coordinator

•If works in HC - Management and supervision of local staff

•If works in HC - ensures that patient data and data forms are fill out properly in an accurate and confidential way

•If works in HC - liaises with the HC coordinator in regards to the weekly activities and possible changes you may wanted to do of the HC

•Prepares duty roster for local staff

•In collaboration with HC Coordinator responsible of expat first medical care and medical emergencies

•If needed supervises case management (admission, medical follow up, discharge, etc.), according to SOP’s

MdM is facing the challenging of this particular transition period, from an ebola emergency project to a development one. Do not expect an ebola treatment center full of patients; it is highly probable you will not see any ebola patient. However bear in mind that Sierra Leone is not a country free of ebola, so it is important keep managing the Holding Centre with high standard procedures.
