MISSION

The purpose of the mission is to be part of the comprehensive response of MdM network in the provision of free and quality health care for migrants and refugees in the migratory process in Greece (Attica, Northern and Western Greece). In the framework of the MdM network a project has been launched in order to provide a comprehensive healthcare services (medical activities, Mental health and psychosocial support, Protection, referral, etc) in several camps. As gender affects all aspects of the migration experience we do care to consider gender equality as an important factor that one can integrate from the beginning.



POSITION OVERVIEW

She/he will be accountable for the integration of gender approach in all the components of the project

He/she will also ensure an appropriate gender approach, specially addressing to special needs and vulnerable people among the beneficiaries, such as victims of SGBV and/or torture, Sexual and Reproductive Health.



OBJECTIVE

An analysis of gender-related needs and help to define a more effective and sustainable response and alignment with international guidelines and standards

One of the objectives of integrating a Gender Advisor during a time is to enhance the capacity of health providers to deliver a more balanced care in terms of equity.

The Gender Advisor will also care for the working process include mechanisms for consistently collecting data disaggregated by sex, age and ability and enabling feedback of different groups



DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES

? Make a gender analysis and integrate the approach throughout the project duration and activities

? Work as technical referent, supporting the coordination positions, local and expat staff, fixed and mobile medical and psychosocial units

? Identify existing national //international health guidelines and protocols for the clinical care of SGBV and advocate as needed in order to ensure they fulfill international standards

? Design and conduct risk and plan the mitigation action in order to reduce risks and vulnerability of migrants

? Conduct trainings for MdM staff (included interpreters, social mediators, volunteers and others humanitarian actors on issues as gender, SGBV, human rights and protection issues) directly intervening with migrants/refugees

? Conduct trainings for health staff and other caregivers (including Interpreters and community mediators) on issues of Gender, SGBV and how to respectfully support vulnerable people.

? Revise the standard referral pathway for victims of SGBV and torture according to existing set up mechanism and crosscheck the compliance of standards for treatment, care and support.



EDUCATION/DEGREE

Required: Master degree on Gender & Cooperation and demonstrate humanitarian field experiences in international or emergency cooperation projects.

Perfil/Requisitos PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Required: Previous work experience in Gender assessment or evaluation, both in international and emergency contexts.
Experience with migrant / refugee and knowledge of protection issues. Experience in Sexual and Gender-based Violence is an asset

SPECIFIC SKILLS
Languages: Fluent in English. Knowledge of Greek language will be an asset
Computing: Microsoft Office
