MISIÓN

This position will be responsible for representing MDM/DOTW programming and plans to other NGO partners. Donor representative: DfID, OFDA, EU, CDC, and any other donor; NGO representative – in coordination with the Medical Coordinator; other stakeholders as MoH, NERC, Ebola Response Consortium, etc.

FUNCIONES



Position summary

The Programmes Development Coordinator will:



(1)Significantly strengthen the engagement by MDM/DotW in all aspects of the mission in Freetown, through supporting and fostering strong relationships with donors and other NGO’s. This is to be undertaken as part of a team approach with the Country management team.



(2) To support the development and finalization of new programmes, through providing a thorough understanding of other organizations actions, especially actors represented in the ERC. The incumbent should be able to advise on gaps in national Ebola and health response, and should be able to ensure that all other actors are aware of MDM/DOTW’s actions, skills and interests.



3) Be a point of contact for, and report on potential opportunities for MDM/DOTW to expand their work. This will include opportunities for collaboration with academic/research institutes, NGO consortia, private foundations and any other initiatives.

4) Lead on dissemination of MDM/DOTW reports that will enhance the reputation and visibility of the organizations in Sierra Leone.

The position is about ensuring better coordination with other actors, as we develop programmes in Koinadugu and Moyamba. In addition, the role is expected to explore, identify and make initial contact on other opportunities for MDM/DOTW to share learning and develop research into our actions in Moyamba and Koinadugu.



5) Responsible for the proposal writing in collaboration with the Country operative group



Specific tasks of the Programme Development Coordinator



Represent and develop relationships with key actors in Sierra Leone.



•In coordination with the country Coordinator and the medical coordinator, represent Médicos del Mundo and all our actions on a national level.

•Ensure all other NGO’s, especially in case of potential overlap, are fully aware of our learning, areas of work and future plans.

•Seek out areas where MDM/DOTW could collaborate with high grade research providers who may be interested to work with us in our project locations.

•Strengthen and improve information and data flow from the MoH ERC, NERC, International Ngo´s Group and any other national forum that is not strictly medical. (Medical for a will be the responsibility of the medical coordinator)

•Proactively put forward ideas and new ways of working country management team.

•Keep an up-to-date understanding of national gaps, actions of other actors, donor priorities and actions.



•Experience of working in a humanitarian coordination role

•Evidence of high level of understanding of humanitarian architecture.

•Experience in developing and negotiating MOUs with partner organizations and then managing the delivery through partners, as evidence of the ability to negotiate key partnerships

•Experience of working with senior technical advisors and consultants to support programme delivery

•Previous success in fundraising and programme growth

•Knowledge of Sierra Leone and the West Africa region

•Network of contacts which would be beneficial to MDMs expansion

•Sound knowledge of relevant key partners and donors strategies, priorities and ways of working in the health field

•Ability to develop vision and strategy

•Ability to develop the skills an capacity of others (individual and organizational)
