Role description

The ProVeg Spain Executive Director will work towards increasing the impact, reputation and income of this important country branch in one of the most populous European countries which is home to one of the world’s most spoken languages. The position holder will guide the small yet growing team in Spain to achieve its charitable aims by creating and delivering the strategy of the country branch, securing its income, managing and supervising the team, and reporting back to the Board and the ProVeg International Executive Team, the latter of which s/he will work in close contact with at all times.

Key responsibilities include:




  • Strategic, operational, and budget planning.

  • Overseeing areas including finance, operations, campaigns, communications, evaluation, board reporting, HR and IT, setting KPIs for the team to meet.

  • Staff management and implementation of a volunteer management strategy.

  • Developing organisational infrastructure, specifically through the creation of ProVeg Spain as a legal entity and the procurement of external service providers relating to HR, payroll, accounting, admin, IT, etc. on a needs basis.

  • Ensuring the organisation fulfils all of its legal and regulatory responsibilities including charity law, company law, employment law, tax, etc.

  • Establish relationships and collaborative agreements with key stakeholders and represent ProVeg Spain externally.

  • Establish fundraising activities in Spain and develop a long-term growth strategy.



Campaigns and projects




  • Overseeing all campaigns, projects, events, and expanding them, either by planning and launching new activities, such as Institutional or Corporate Outreach or by growing them (e. g. Political Outreach).

  • Overseeing all communication activities, and act as one of ProVeg Spain’s media spokespersons in interviews on TV, radio, online, press, events and conferences.



HR




  • Developing and implementing HR policies, procedures and practices, including recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management and staff coaching as well as mentoring.

  • Establishing a positive, healthy, and safe working environment in accordance with all appropriate legislation and regulations.



Financial planning




  • Work with the fundraising team at ProVeg International to research funding sources, overseeing and developing fundraising plans and funding proposals. Where relevant, represent ProVeg Spain to stakeholders, develop contacts with grant funders, trusts, foundations, local authorities, and the corporate sector. Establish legacy giving and donations from the public.

  • Participate in fundraising activities as appropriate.



Reporting and governance




  • Reporting to the ProVeg International Executive Team and the Board of Trustees of ProVeg Spain, and, in accordance with legal and internal requirements, preparing and providing agendas and regular updates on finances, developments and delivery.

  • Responsible for all financial matters, including the preparation and presentation to the Executive Team and Board of management accounts, business plans, annual budget and cash flow forecasts, and where relevant, grant budgets.

  • Identify and evaluate risks and review the Risk Register with the Board.

Perfil/Requisitos

Person Specification

Education

Educated to degree level essential, with a postgraduate degree and/or a management qualification desirable.

Experience




  • Four or more years of senior management experience including recruiting and managing a team, ideally in the third sector.

  • Experience of successfully delivering campaigns and projects that brought about positive change.

  • Financial and operational management experience as budget-holder and project director essential, with knowledge of grant funding, income generation and experience of fundraising desirable.

  • Experience in creating and developing organisational structures, including internal policies, procedures and practices.

  • Proven ability to work well and flexible and pressure, to prioritise and to meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the latest developments in plant-based food and living, and a commitment to continued learning to develop an ever greater understanding of the sector.

  • Strategically assess options and actions based on external factors and the vision and guiding principles of the organisation.



Additional requirements




  • Willing to go beyond the nine to five -- this role requires occasional evening and weekend working.

  • Ability to travel regularly to Berlin and within Spain.



After twelve months in the role, the executive will have successfully:




  • Shaped and started implementing the strategy for the following three years.

  • Overseen delivery of campaigns and projects across Spain.

  • Settled as ProVeg Spain’s Executive Director, having formed a strong partnership with the Executive Team, the Board, as well as other internal and external key stakeholders.

  • Formed strong relationships with the team and inspired staff to perform to high standards.

  • Played an active role in raising the profile of ProVeg Spain.

  • Having achieved first results in improving income generation.
