Médicos del Mundo (MdM) is an international humanitarian organization, working in different regions and countries to make effective the Universal Right to Health. MdM is a non-profitable, non-governmental, non-political and non-confessional organization operating under the principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality and independence. The EU Aid Volunteer in Gender Base Violence shall support the Country Coordinator in close collaboration with the MHPSS coordinator in the creation of a Gender guidelines in the oPt and in the design of the annual Gender action plan. He/She will also support the MdM mission as the focal point for Gender EU Aid Volunteer in Gender shall be in close contact with the WB field team, in particular regarding data collection and reporting. Considering the number of organizations (both national and international) involved in gender and GbV in Palestine, he/she will communicate and coordinate activities with them.

1.- Drafting of an GbV guidelines in the oPt 

- To take stock about GbV evidence generated by MdM projects in oPt.

- To study and assess recommendations of GbV study produced by MdM during 2018.

2.- Sensitization/awareness among MdM staff.

- Maintain ongoing communication with the local team to involve them in the advocacy actions.

- Internal capacity building on gender mainstreaming, sexual and reproductive rights and sexual and gender diversity.

3.- Elaboration of GbV work plan.

- Support the local team in collecting adequate and reliable data to be used in GbV.

- Elaborate factsheets highlighting GbV messages.

- Create and update an GbV contact list/database.

4.- Networking.

- Participate in joint initiatives and coordination groups/ subcluster.

- Propose partnerships in Gender/GbV with other MdM chapters in the oPt.

- In coordination with the humanitarian action team to maintain and share information with other relevant stakeholders in Spain and/or Brussels.

- Networking with local and international NGOs in oPt dealing with Sexual and Reproductive Health & Rights, and Gender and sexual diversity.

5.- Communication.

- In coordination with MdM Communication Unit at HQ in Madrid, propose communication activities in media/social media to support GbV actions.

Perfil


1. Background

- Social Sciences / International Relations / Human Rights / Gender Studies / Area Studies.

2. Previous Experience

- Experience in a humanitarian organization.

- Experience in a humanitarian context.

- Experience in advocacy – humanitarian advocacy is an asset.

- Experience in public speaking and in negotiations with partners and authorities.

3. Required Skills

- Excellent gender analysis skills, especially for complex political/humanitarian context.

- Excellent communication and writing skills.

- Excellent management of the Windows environment (Word, Excel...).

- Excellent level of English (spoken - written - reading); Arabic is an asset.

- Strong organisational skills / Rigor / Ability to classify and to manage priorities.

- Capacity to take initiatives and propose innovative solutions.

- Knowledge of data analysis and documentation for advocacy purposes.

- Knowledge of how to use policy, research, lobbying, public campaigning, media and digital work to influence a political agenda.

- Ability to develop solid evidence-based arguments and recommendations.

- Resistance to stress in a tense security context.

- Ability to work in a multicultural environment and be respectful.

4. Appreciated qualifications

- Knowledge of International Humanitarian Law.

- Knowledge of the occupied Palestinian territories and/or the Middle East.

- Experience in Protection, MHPSS, SRH and/or Gender Mainstreaming.
