Plan International (Spain) is searching a National Office Director Advisor. The post holder will play a key role in supporting the National Office Director in her role and as a member of Plan International.



Overview



Plan International is an international community development organisation, child-centred and particularly focused in girls, founded in 1937, working in 70 countries, 51 of which are developing countries and 10.000 staff. With a focus on long-term sustainable development, as well as relief in emergencies and humanitarian aid.



Plan International works in a participative way with children and families across a range of programmes including education, health, household economic security, protection and water/sanitation. Advocacy cuts across all programmes.



Established in 2001, Plan International (Spain) is a dynamic organization that supports Plan’s International work worldwide, with a particular focus on Child protection.  Funding is received from a variety of sources including child sponsorship, Spanish Government and Regional Governments and also multilateral donors (EU, UN).



In addition, Plan Spain strives to raise awareness of development issues through development education, advocacy, the media and events.



Key responsibilities



Working closely with the organisation’s management committee as well as the national & international Governance bodies by providing support in the coordination and management and preparing and following up the meetings.



Researching relevant issues and following progress on the files that the NO Director is working on.



Helping to draft articles, reports, briefings, speeches and presentations when required



Supporting the NO Director in the lobbying and advocacy work to position Plan International as an influential stakeholder in the sector.



Working with the NO Director in both the NO and the Plan International Strategic Planning process.



Managing office support including responding to mail, managing agenda and information requests, booking meetings, organising travels, budget management and keeping database.



Attending meetings between the NO Director and relevant stakeholders when necessary as well as fundraising events.



Liaising with other NGOs, Plan International Offices, Spanish and EU institutions and other multilateral agencies and donors



Coordinate the internship of the Department.



REQUIREMENTS



At least two years of professional experience working as chief of cabinet, political advisor or similar position.



Intensive knowledge in strategic public affairs.



Experience in institutional and policy relations and in developing partnerships with public authorities and private actors.



Interest and commitment to the aims of NGOs work in general, and Children Rights in particular



Fluency in written and spoken English. French will be a plus.



Good interpersonal, communication and networking skills.



Flexibility and ability to prioritise workload and to work well under pressure.



Strong organisational, IT and administrative skills and solution-oriented approach.

Willing and able to travel up to 35% internationally, sometimes with short notice.
