El Refugio del Burrito was established in 2003 as a subsidiary of The Donkey Sanctuary, an international charity based in the United Kingdom. Our mission is to transform the quality of life for donkeys, mules and people worldwide through greater understanding, collaboration and support and by promoting lasting, mutually life-enhancingrelationships. The Donkey Sanctuary supports projects in 36 countries worldwide.



Overall Purposes



El Refugio del Burrito is looking for a Communications Officer to maximise the public relevancy and social mobilisation towards the main problems that affect equines in Spain and also to look for funds for our main programmes from members, supporters, organizations and foundations.



This is an excellent opportunity for a communications expert which vocation is to make a better world for animals. The position requires at least three years of experience in a similar position, experience as a community manager, with professional video and photos and in content writing. Equally, it would be relevant to have experience in organizing events, public relations and in the third sector. A good standard of spoken and written Spanish and English is essential.



The ideal candidate for this role will be energetic, analytical and empathetic. The energy will be needed to inspire and motivate our team to deliver a complex fundraising programme. Analytical skills will be critical so that large data sets can be reviewed and interpreted correctly. You will also need to have high levels of emotional intelligence and empathy which to build constructive relationships with colleagues, supporters and volunteers.



General objectives of this position are:



- To communicate and raise awareness about the need of our work and animal welfare.



- To increase the sense of belonging to our community by our supporters and followers and INSPIRE ACTION.



- To reach new followers, celebrities and influencers to support our work.



- To raise and increase annual income for El Refugio del Burrito, according to annual and strategic targets, in order to make the work of the charity sustainable.



Main Duties and Responsibilities



To build professional multimedia materials to communicate about our work (videos, photo library, stories)



To assist to develop and maintain up to date content on the website and social media networks (Facebook, Twitter, You Tube and Instagram) including but not limited to:



Publish ne article a week (English and Spanish)



Keeping all cntent up to date in our social media channels (At least 1 post a day)



Prmpt posting of new stories/information.



Answering every message, and passing them t the right department.



Draft and format (on and off line) monthly newsletters for supporters in English and Spanish



Develop appropriate material for promotional and educational purposes and disseminate it. (Posters, fliers, etc,…)



To develop marketing material designs as postcards, bookmarks, merchandising, invitations, letters, envelops, etc



To implement and coordinate the internal communication strategy of the organization.



Manage and set up to date our online shop. Draft and implement strategy to increase sales in our on/offline shop.



Increase the number of visitors and potential supporters to El Refugio del Burrito.



To support the implementation of the organisation’s fundraising strategy.



Support all the individual giving operations of the charity.



Assist with the planning and operation of fundraising and awareness-raising events and activities in or outside of the Sanctuary;



To maintain and establish new positive relationships with partners in the local community and assist with delivering information talks to promote the work of the charity;



To research and seek out new fundraising opportunities for the Sanctuary to generate income.



To assist in recruitment and coordination of volunteers for the Sanctuary.  



To work with whole team to share successful strategies for raising income and turning visitors into supporters.



To report via agreed systems on all fundraising and communications activities.


Perfil/Requisitos

ESSENTIAL:

IT and internet skills – Microsoft Windows/Word/Excel/PowerPoint.

Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.



Willingness to undertake training considered relevant by the Charity.



Full, valid driving license (role may require driving to other locations).
