Educo (member of ChildFund Alliance) is a global development NGO. We defend children’s rights and promote sustainable social change by improving the living conditions of vulnerable populations, especially children. Our action is based on the Convention of the Rights of the Child. Our three institutional goals are: education, protection and governance.
MISSION
Ensure Educo’s voice is heard around the world through a strong media profile, obtaining global media coverage, with a focus on Educo’s work in education, protection, advocacy and humanitarian action
TASK
Planning Tasks
•Build an annual international media plan for Educo which is aligned with internal priorities (programs, fundraising, advocacy, etc.), containing all critical events and important days of observance for the organization.
•Manage media enquiries from international media and provide support to the regional communication coordinators for specific media enquiries in the region.
•Organize field trips with key strategic media to give exposure to Educo’s work
•Along with the Global Communication Manager, develop the crisis communication plans and draft response and materials for media
Content generation Tasks
•Prepare talking points and messages related to specific issues or topics, for sharing with the communication team at the global/regional/country level and generate media activity in international and developing world media
•Along with the Global content Coordinator, collaborate with programs, advocacy, and marketing, preparing external communication materials that are aligned with our key messaging and ensure a direct link between Educo’s programs work and our media coverage
•Upload the last news and PR related to Educo on the Corporate Website
Relationship Tasks
•Build and maintain strong network with international media, focusing on outlets and reporters interested in international development, education, child protection, child wellbeing and child-focused humanitarian action.
•Act as key focal point for media management at time of humanitarian disasters, coordinating media responses across multiple countries, as well as large global international launches
•Influence Educo’s campaign and advocacy plans to help achieve media objectives
•Work with Educo’s specialists to identify media opportunities to publish strong leadership papers and contribute to stories related to Educo’s work around the world
Capacity building tasks
•Prepare a capacity building plan working with the regional communication coordinators to ensure that critical Educo staff at the global level receive ongoing media training

Perfil/Requisitos |
PROFILE
•A degree in journalism, communications or related field
•Excellent writing skills for press releases, media briefings, opinion pieces and the elaboration of key messages
•The ability to work fast in a high-pressure environment
•Ability to handle complex data and issues
•An excellent knowledge of global issues and political debates affecting children
•Experience working with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external
•Ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues across different teams (programs, advocacy, marketing, etc.)
•Experience of project managing complex media outcomes across different outlets and across different countries.
•Fluency in English and Spanish, French as a plus.
