Summary of Position

The Program Intern supports the logistics of the Madrid Center programs. The role executes operational and administrative tasks that have a direct impact on the student’s and participant´s well-being and their cultural learning. The Program Intern actively participates in welcoming CIEE program participants and acts as an initial point of contact.

Duties and Responsibilities

General

Support and implement the delivery of the orientation sessions of various CIEE Madrid programs.

Daily administration of documentation, phone calls, insurance info and incident reporting.

Act as an activity leader or chaperone cultural events, day trips or outdoor events.

Accompany groups in cultural, academic, welcome-farewell events, day trips, and some Saturday excursions, if requested.

Provide Reception coverage at the CIEE Center, if requested.

Other duties as assigned.

Assist in the implementation and coordination of CIEE health, safety, and security (HSS) practices:

Dcument any health, safety, r behaviral issues

Manage any initial lw-to mid-level health, safety, security issue and accmmodation welfare incident involving socio-emotional and behavioral student issues.

Participate in meetings with pertinent CIEE n site staff t update and share any participant behaviral issues, HSS patterns/trends and other related issues in student housing.

Knowledge Skills and Requirements

Proven ability to work efficiently under pressure and be able to deal calmly with a participant´s stress.

Have strong verbal communication and active listening skills in Spanish and English.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate (naturally) an interest in academic and teaching programs.

Need to have the confidence, interest, and soundness of judgement to provide effective communication with participants from diverse backgrounds.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Demonstrate a proactive, collaborative, and organized working style with a positive outlook.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn new platform systems.

Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and diversity.

Working Conditions

The Program Intern is an entry-level Madrid office-based position to help support the operations and delivery of CIEE programs, and includes general support in the health, safety, and security of participants. The successful candidate is offered a full-time, forty (40) hour/week local work contract. The role includes outdoor walking during orientation and cultural activities, and occasionally some local business travel. In the case of participation in some Saturday excursions, staff are compensated with recovery time.

The position has access to all participant applications and other personal student information. They/She/He might be privy to personal, medical and/or academic problems of participants and must respect and maintain the confidentiality of such records. The position is hired with a local contract and follows all local holidays and annual vacation days.
