Wassu Gambia Kafo is an international scientific initiative established in The Gambia as one of the research and training centers of the Transnational Observatory of applied research to knowledge transfer for the management and prevention of Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C), under the umbrella of the Wassu-UAB Foundation – Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona, in Spain.
The Researcher will be responsible for the design, implementation and supervision of all the research activities within the organization.
Job Summary:
Design, coordinate and supervise the development of research agenda, baseline studies, monitoring and evaluation activities and other research-related activities. Develop research proposals and protocols in accordance to new tendencies, laws, masculinities, migration and any other factors that might influence social changes in both quantitative and qualitative data analysis. Overview of knowledge transfer activities in the framework of Wassu Gambia Kafo’s projects. Direct Wassu Gambia Kafo’s team of trainers in the implementation of every research activity. Build the capacity of field workers in research, in line with the organizational strategy and policies. Ensure research outcomes are of high quality for international scientific index publications. Participate in scientific articles writing as well as peer reviews. Provide general technical support and appropriate timely feedback on training and research agenda. Liaise with Project Coordinator on the successful delivery of quality data to be used for donor reporting purposes.

Perfil/Requisitos |
Person Specifications:
Scientific background: at least Master’s in Public Health and/or Social Sciences. At least 3 years’ experience in fieldwork and research in sub-Saharan Africa. Strong skills and experience in using mix methods (qualitative and quantitative). Excellent organizational, coordination, mobilization and management skills. Excellent data analysis, reporting and article writing. Strong skills in use of participatory methodologies. Ability to manage multiple tasks/responsibilities independently, with initiative and in a fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal skills, networking, alliance building, able to work cordially within a team, self-motivated worker and good team player with leadership. Respectful and ability to handle culturally sensitive issues in a tactful way. Excellent English. Spanish and French will be an advantage, as well as local languages.
